Cookie Policy
Trailwise Atlas uses limited browser storage to operate our digital map shop and improve the route-planning experience.
Why this notice matters
A cookie is a small identifier a website asks your browser to retain. Related tools, such as local storage, perform similar tasks. They can remember a basket or consent choice, but they cannot read GPX files on your device, access your navigation history, or determine your live outdoor location unless you deliberately provide that information to a separate service.
Essential store functions
Necessary cookies support secure sessions, cart contents, checkout transitions, order confirmation, load balancing, abuse prevention, and your consent selection. These records are used because the service would not operate consistently without them. They are not switched off by the optional-cookie control.
Anonymous performance measurement
With permission, we measure page performance and broad usage patterns, such as which guide categories receive visits and whether customers reach a delivery confirmation. We use this information to improve labels, accessibility, and download reliability. We do not use website analytics to create a history of the trails you walk.
Map and media integrations
A preview may be supplied by an external map or video host. We load optional embedded content only after consent where required. The external provider may process technical information and set its own cookie. Opening a GPX file in a third-party application is governed by that application's privacy terms, not this policy.
Checkout technology
Payment services use their own security and fraud-prevention storage when you leave our store to pay. Those tools are controlled by the payment provider and may be necessary to complete authentication. Its cookie and privacy notices explain the information it retains.
Managing storage
You can accept or reject optional categories through the consent panel. You can also remove cookies using browser settings. Restricting required cookies may cause the basket to reset or prevent a payment return from displaying the right order. Previously downloaded route files are not removed when browser cookies are cleared.
How long records remain
Checkout-session cookies normally last only for the visit. Consent preferences may remain for six months. Where analytics are enabled, identifiers are configured to expire within thirteen months. Security records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or meet legal obligations.
